If you used an iPhone before switching to Parrot Mobile — and especially if your new phone is Android — you may need to deregister iMessage on your old number. Otherwise, texts from other iPhone users may keep going into iMessage on your old (inactive) device and never reach you.
Symptoms that suggest iMessage isn't deregistered:
iPhone friends say their texts to you "look blue" but you never receive them.
You're missing texts only from iPhone users; Android friends come through fine.
Group threads with iPhone users don't include you.
Option 1: Deregister Through Apple's Self-Service Page (Easiest)
Use this if you no longer have access to your old iPhone.
Enter your phone number (the one that used to be on iPhone) and choose your country.
Apple texts a 6-digit confirmation code to that number. Enter it on the page.
Apple confirms deregistration. Allow up to a few hours for full effect.
If the SMS code never arrives — for example, the number has already moved off the iPhone — use Option 2.
Option 2: Deregister On the iPhone Itself (If You Still Have It)
Best if you still have the old iPhone in hand.
On the old iPhone, open Settings > Messages.
Toggle iMessage off.
Open Settings > FaceTime and toggle FaceTime off too.
Then physically remove the SIM (or stop using the iPhone with that number).
Doing it on-device deregisters the number with Apple immediately.
Option 3: Sign Out of iMessage on All Devices
If your Apple ID is on multiple devices (iPad, Mac, etc.), iMessage can keep your number "linked" through them. Sign out of iMessage everywhere:
On each device, go to Settings > Messages > Send & Receive (or Messages > Settings > iMessage on Mac).
Tap your Apple ID and sign out.
Or remove your phone number from the Send & Receive list.
After Deregistering
Have an iPhone friend send you a fresh message. It should now show as green (SMS) on their phone, and arrive on your new device.
If your new phone is also an iPhone with iMessage on, threads will pick up as iMessage again automatically — no further action needed.
If you switched to Android and your old iPhone friends still have blue chats with you, ask them to delete the existing thread and start a new one. Their phone may be caching the iMessage status.
Still Missing Texts?
If you've waited a few hours after deregistering and texts are still missing, check the basics on your new phone:
If those don't help, email support@parrotmobile.com with which contacts are affected and screenshots if possible.
