APN Settings for Android and iPhone

Modified on Sun, 19 Apr at 12:33 AM

In most cases, your phone picks up the right network settings automatically the moment your Parrot Mobile service activates. If data, MMS (picture messaging), group messaging, or hotspot isn't working after activation, manually setting your APN (Access Point Name) usually fixes it.

When You Need to Check Your APN

Try the steps below if you see any of these:

  • You have signal but no mobile data

  • Picture or group messages won't send or download

  • Your mobile hotspot won't share data

  • You just switched devices, swapped your SIM, or moved between iOS and Android

Heads up — MMS and hotspot need data on your plan. APN settings are only half of the picture. MMS (picture/group messages) and hotspot both ride on top of mobile data, so they only work if your plan includes data. If you're on a talk-only plan (for example, a 100 Talk or 300 Talk plan), regular SMS will work but MMS and hotspot will not until you buy a data top-up or change to a plan that includes data.

Parrot Mobile APN Values

Field Value
Name Parrot Mobile
APN wholesale
MMSC http://wholesale.mmsmvno.com/mms/wapenc

Leave any other fields (username, password, proxy, MCC/MNC, etc.) blank or at their default unless your device specifically requires a value.

iPhone (iOS)

iOS doesn't always show an APN screen. If you don't see the menu below, your carrier profile is being managed automatically — restart your phone and re-test before going further.

  1. Open Settings > Cellular > Cellular Data Network.

  2. Under Cellular Data, set APN to wholesale. Leave Username and Password blank.

  3. Under MMS, set APN to wholesale and MMSC to http://wholesale.mmsmvno.com/mms/wapenc. Leave the rest blank.

  4. Under Personal Hotspot, set APN to wholesale. Leave the rest blank.

  5. Go back, then turn Airplane Mode on for 10 seconds and back off so the phone reconnects with the new settings.

If the Cellular Data Network menu is missing entirely, go to Settings > General > VPN & Device Management and remove any old carrier profile you don't recognize, then restart.

Android

Menu names vary slightly by manufacturer (Samsung, Pixel, Motorola, etc.).

  1. Open Settings > Network & Internet > SIMs (or Mobile Network) and tap your Parrot Mobile line.

  2. Tap Access Point Names, then tap + (or the menu) to Add a new APN.

  3. Enter the values from the table above:

  4. Save the APN, then select it as the active APN.

  5. Toggle Airplane Mode on for 10 seconds and back off to refresh your connection.
