International Roaming: Pay-As-You-Go Explained

Modified on Sun, 19 Apr at 12:33 AM

International roaming options are rolling out as we expand our supported destinations. Roaming usage and international calling charges to non-included destinations are both billed against your line's prepaid balance — a per-line pool of funds you top up on demand.

What the Prepaid Balance Is

Your prepaid balance is a small per-line credit pool used for usage that isn't covered by your monthly plan, specifically:

A few things to know:

  • The balance is per line. If you have multiple lines on your account, each line has its own prepaid balance. Adding funds to one line doesn't add funds to the others.

  • It's not a wallet for your monthly plan. Your monthly plan still renews from your saved card on file. The prepaid balance is only used for international calling and roaming usage.

  • Funds don't expire for as long as the line is active. They are forfeited if the line is fully closed.

Where to Find It

  1. Sign in at https://www.parrotmobile.com/app.

  2. Open the line you want to top up.

  3. On the line's Home tab, look for the Prepaid Balance card. It shows the current balance and has an Add Funds button.

How to Add Funds

  1. In the Prepaid Balance card on the line's Home tab, click Add Funds.

  2. Choose the amount and confirm with your saved payment method.

  3. The new balance is available immediately.

You can add funds at any time — there's no need to wait until you're abroad or until you make an international call.

What If I Don't Have Enough Balance?

If you try to make an international call to a non-included destination (or use roaming as it rolls out) and your prepaid balance is too low to cover the call, the call won't connect. Top up the balance from the dashboard and try again.

Other Ways to Stay Connected Abroad

If you have Wi-Fi while traveling, you can use Wi-Fi Calling to make and receive calls and texts to and from U.S. numbers without using roaming or your prepaid balance.
