Using WiFi Calling with Parrot Mobile

A great backup plan for when you’re in an area with little to no cellular service is WiFi calling. If you are connected to a stable WiFi network, you can use it to send texts or make phone calls. It works just as it would if you were on the regular cellular network.

Why Use WiFi Calling?

Having an additional way to stay connected is always good news. During moments when you’re in a less-than-ideal location for cellular service—such as certain buildings, remote areas, or anywhere with a weak signal—WiFi calling can be a game changer. All you need is a stable WiFi connection, and your calls and messages will still go through.

WiFi Calling and Your Plan

Using WiFi calling and messaging still counts toward your plan’s minutes and messages. It simply uses the internet instead of the cellular network.

Helpful Tip

If you anticipate unpredictable coverage, we encourage you to enable WiFi calling ahead of time so that it’s ready when you need it. If you’re experiencing any calling or texting issues, you can review our Troubleshooting Guide for additional support.

Before You Turn It On

Wi-Fi Calling won’t activate until you’ve set an E911 emergency address on your line. This address is what dispatchers receive if you call 911 over Wi-Fi. See Setting Your E911 Emergency Address before continuing.

How to Turn On WiFi Calling

For iPhone:

  1. Go to Settings > Phone > Wi-Fi Calling

  2. Toggle Wi-Fi Calling on This iPhone to ON

  3. Follow any additional on-screen instructions

For Android:

  1. Open the Phone app, then go to Settings (usually found by tapping the three dots)

  2. Tap Calls > Wi-Fi Calling

  3. Turn Wi-Fi Calling ON

Note: Menus may vary slightly depending on your Android device and software version.

Wi-Fi Calling Won't Turn On

If the Wi-Fi Calling toggle is greyed out, refuses to enable, or flips back off, work through these in order:

  1. Set your E911 emergency address. Wi-Fi Calling won't activate until an E911 address is on file. See Setting Your E911 Emergency Address.

  2. Confirm the line is fully provisioned. A line that hasn't finished activating won't enable Wi-Fi Calling. See Activating Your Service (and What to Do If It Doesn't Work) and make sure the line shows signal first.

  3. Toggle Wi-Fi Calling off and back on, then restart the phone.

  4. Reconnect to your Wi-Fi network. Forget the network and rejoin if it doesn't pick up.

  5. Confirm the carrier name shows as Parrot Mobile in your device's cellular settings. If it shows the wrong carrier or no carrier, the eSIM may be in a stuck state — work through the activation troubleshooting linked above.

  6. Update your device to the latest iOS or Android version. Wi-Fi Calling features and toggles change between OS versions.
