Trouble with Calls, Texts, or Data: Step-by-Step Troubleshooting

Modified on Wed, 23 Sep at 12:37 AM

Most call, text, and data problems are fixed by checking your line in your account, then restarting your phone or toggling Airplane Mode. Start with the account checks below, since an unpaid bill, a used-up allowance, or a feature that's switched off looks exactly like a phone problem.

Step 1: Check your line in your account

  1. Sign in at app.parrotmobile.com and pick the line from the line switcher at the top.
  2. Look at the top card on the line's Overview:
  3. Check This cycle on Overview to see how much talk, text, and data you have left.
  4. Go to More (top bar on a computer, bottom bar on a phone) > Line settings > Line features and make sure Talk, Text, and Data are on. Changes can take a few minutes to reach the network.

Check what your plan includes

Data-only plans can't make calls or use voicemail. Talk-only plans can't use data, picture messages, or hotspot. Add a top-up for what's missing on the line's Top up tab, or change plans. See Choosing the Right Parrot Mobile Plan.

Step 2: Quick fixes on your phone

  1. Turn Airplane Mode on for 10 seconds, then off.
  2. Restart your phone (fully power off, then on).
  3. Make sure the Parrot Mobile SIM or eSIM line is turned on, and on phones with two lines, that it's selected for calls, texts, and cellular data.
  4. Install any software update.

Step 3: iPhone settings

  1. Cellular data: Settings > Cellular, turn on Cellular Data.
  2. Carrier settings update: on Wi-Fi, open Settings > General > About. If an update is available, a pop-up appears. Tap Update.
  3. Texts: Settings > Apps > Messages, make sure MMS Messaging is on.
  4. Reset network settings (clears saved Wi-Fi passwords): Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone > Reset > Reset Network Settings.

Step 4: Android settings

  1. Mobile data: Settings > Network & Internet > SIMs, turn on Mobile data.
  2. Network type: on the same screen, set Preferred network type to 5G or LTE (auto).
  3. Reset network settings: Settings > System > Reset options > Reset Mobile Network Settings (or Reset Wi-Fi, mobile & Bluetooth).
