APN Settings for Android and iPhone

Modified on Wed, 23 Sep at 12:37 AM

Most phones set up Parrot Mobile's network settings automatically. If you have signal but no data, or picture messages or hotspot don't work, set the APN manually: APN wholesale and MMSC http://wholesale.mmsmvno.com/mms/wapenc. Leave every other field blank.

Parrot Mobile APN settings

  • Name: Parrot Mobile
  • APN: wholesale
  • MMSC: http://wholesale.mmsmvno.com/mms/wapenc
  • APN type (Android only, if shown): default, mms
  • Everything else (username, password, proxy, port, MMS proxy): leave blank or at the default.

When to check your APN

  • You have signal bars but no mobile data.
  • Picture or group messages won't send or download.
  • Your hotspot connects but has no internet.
  • You just moved your line to a different phone.

MMS and hotspot need data on your plan

Picture messages, group texts, and hotspot all use mobile data. On a talk-only plan, regular texts work but these don't until you add a data top-up or change to a plan with data. See Changing Your Plan and Buying Top-Ups.

iPhone

iPhones often manage these settings automatically and may not show an APN screen at all. If you don't see the menu, restart your phone and test again before going further.

  1. Open Settings > Cellular > Cellular Data Network (with two lines, tap the Parrot Mobile line under SIMs first).
  2. Under Cellular Data, set APN to wholesale. Leave Username and Password blank.
  3. Under MMS, set APN to wholesale and MMSC to http://wholesale.mmsmvno.com/mms/wapenc. Leave the rest blank.
  4. Under Personal Hotspot, set APN to wholesale.
  5. Turn Airplane Mode on for 10 seconds, then off.

If Cellular Data Network is missing, check Settings > General > VPN & Device Management for an old carrier profile. Remove any you don't recognize, then restart.

Android

Menu names vary by brand.

  1. Open Settings > Network & Internet > SIMs and tap the Parrot Mobile line. On Samsung: Settings > Connections > Mobile networks.
  2. Tap Access Point Names, then tap + or Add.
  3. Enter Name Parrot Mobile, APN wholesale, and MMSC http://wholesale.mmsmvno.com/mms/wapenc.
  4. Open the three-dot menu and tap Save.
  5. Select the new Parrot Mobile APN so it's active.
  6. Turn Airplane Mode on for 10 seconds, then off.

If there's a separate MMS-only APN from an old carrier, delete it and use the single Parrot Mobile APN.

Still not working?

  1. Restart your phone after saving the APN.
  2. Make sure Mobile data is on in your phone's settings.
  3. Check the line's features in your account: More > Line settings > Line features. Data (and Hotspot and tethering for hotspot) should be on.
  4. Check you have data left under This cycle on the line's Overview.
  5. Work through Trouble with Calls, Texts, or Data: Step-by-Step Troubleshooting.
  6. Email support@parrotmobile.com with your phone model and a screenshot of your APN screen.
